The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will come to an end on May 19, but GOT fans can still experience the magic of The Known World with AESU! Keep your eye out for a Northern Ireland tour in 2020, and discover the most breathtaking GOT filming locations in Dublin, Derry, and Belfast.
Dublin
There are plenty of reasons to visit Ireland’s capital and largest city. Aside from the famous Trinity College and the St. James Brewery, it’s also one of the most important Game of Thrones filming locations. Beware of Whitewalkers in the Haunted Forest, look for Direwolves below the bridge, and discover Winterfell and the Riverlands! Dublin is the perfect place for fans to relive the entire series starting at season one.
Derry
To visit Derry is to experience one of the most idyllic and quintessential examples of traditional Irish culture. The city is protected by 17th-century walls, complete with gates, cannons, and watchtowers. It’s no surprise that the filmmakers behind GOT jumped on the opportunity to film in Derry. Fans can explore Downhill Beach (Dragonstone), home of Stannis Baratheon. Visit Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and Larrybane Chalk Quarry, where Yara and Euron made rival claims to the Salt Throne. Make your way to Ballintoy Harbor, where Theon came ashore on Pyke Island and rededicated his father to the “Drowned God.”
Belfast
After you visit the incredible Titanic Belfast museum and have a pint at the city’s oldest traditional pub (Kelly’s Cellars), drive just 40 minutes from Belfast to explore over 20 key GOT filming locations. Take a photograph where Jon Snow stood in the Winterfell Archery Range, stand underneath the Mystical Tree where Robb and Talisa secretly married, and peer out of the window in which young Bran was pushed in season one.
