What is Iceland Airwaves?
Since its inception in 1999, Iceland Airwaves has become Iceland’s longest-established festival and best-recognized music brand. For four days in November, the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, comes alive with music, performances, and art! Iceland Airwaves showcases new, innovative talent from around the globe. Not only can attendees experience incredible performers, but they also have the opportunity to connect with international musicians, agents, journalists, promoters, and managers!
Who is Performing This Year?
Iceland Airwaves 2019 takes place November six to the ninth. This year’s lineup features Mac DeMarco, Whitney, Of Monsters and Men, Orville Peck, Seabear, Jesse Markin, and so much more! Check out the full lineup on the official Iceland Airwaves website. There’s something for everyone at Iceland Airwaves, from rock and indie to hip hop and soul! Artists perform in designated venues throughout the city, but attendees can hear music flowing from every bar, nightclub, museum, and record store in Reykjavik.
What Should I Know Before I Attend?
The official Iceland Airwaves website provides a variety of tips and advice for first-time attendees! As you pack your bag for your trip, consider Reykjavik’s local climate. The average November temperature ranges from high 41 degrees Fahrenheit to low 32 degrees Fahrenheit. The weather is often cold and wet, and attendees are urged to wear warm, waterproof clothing. Keep in mind that performances will be held indoors, so it’s best to wear warm layers that you can remove easily!
