When you think of Ireland, you probably think of rain, rolling green hills, and pubs on every corner. And while all of these things exist, Ireland has so much more to offer that most travelers don’t even know about. Along with a Guinness tour and pubs playing traditional Irish music, you can find beautiful castles, parks, shopping areas, lakes, cliffs, and valleys. We at AESU have our Flavors of Ireland tour in 2024, so if you’re interested, check out our website! Read on to learn more about Ireland!
Dublin
Dublin is the capital city of Ireland, and there is so much to do and see here. Our tour will take in the top attractions and landmarks like Dublin Castle, College Green, the Guinness Brewery, the Temple Bar, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. There’s plenty to see in the Georgian streets around Parnell Square and Merrion Square and gain insight into this city’s rich history. We’ll do taste testing in Brewer’s Dining Hall during the Guinness tour.
Galway
Galway is another city in Ireland that our tour will visit. During your time here, you can visit the Latin Quarter, which is in the heart of the colorful bohemian Shop Street. You can walk down from Lynch’s Castle passing a lively mix of fun and unique small shops. Other things to see while you’re in Galway are Lynch’s Castle, the Druid Theatre Company, and the Eyre Square. You can view the city’s medieval walls, the Spanish Arch and the Oscar Wilde statue while learning all about Galway’s heritage and history. You can also explore Galway’s award-winning bars and restaurants on this exploration. There’s plenty of tasty treats from family-run businesses and artisanal producers, and you can try some of the best beer in the world while in Galway.
Cork
Known as Ireland’s “real capital,” Cork usually gets skipped over for most travelers, but our tour makes a stop at this historic city. With popular destinations like Blarney Castle nearby, Cork is a great place to base yourself to explore. While here, you can wander around the English Market, stroll the River Lee and Historic Shandon District, kiss the Blarney Stone, and wander the seaside town of Cobh.
