Can’t Miss Experiences All Throughout Scotland

There is a whole host of different sights and experiences to be had in Scotland.

Do you need an awesome list of places to visit and things to experience in Scotland? If you think about Scotland, you likely think of crumbling ruins, kilted Highlanders, historic cities, and of course, whiskey. However, if you dive a little deeper, you will find starkly beautiful landscapes, wildlife hotspots, and a few remote archipelagos that will blow your socks off! There is a whole host of different sights and experiences to be had in Scotland. Read on to learn so much more about the best places to visit in Scotland!

Edinburgh

Edinburgh will make you go “wow” like no other city in Scotland (sorry, Glasgow!). It is like stepping right into a fairytale, with its cobbled streets, gothic architecture, and castles. Edinburgh sure is one of the most beautiful destinations to visit in Scotland. The Royal Mile is at the center of Edinburgh’s Old Town, with Edinburgh Castle at its head and the Palace of Holyroodhouse at its foot. You can spend a whole day exploring the museums (most of which are free to enter), restaurants, and distilleries on this busy street.

Loch Ness

Without a doubt, Loch Ness is Scotland’s most popular loch. Travelers from all across the world come to see the fabled home of the Loch Ness Monster. While at Loch Ness, you can soak in the calming landscape of the Scottish Highlands. Back on dry land, Castle Urquhart stands on a rocky promontory right on the north shore, which makes it the ideal vantage point for stunning views over the entire loch.

Glasgow

Once an industrial hub, Glasgow has reinvented itself as a newfound cultural capital of theater, creative arts, music, and incredible cuisine. Served by some excellent transport links, it is also easy to navigate on foot. The Glasgow City Centre Mural Trail is an amazing place to start off your excursion of the city if you are into street art. There are also nine major museums in Glasgow, like the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. The city’s West End area is a trendy location where you can spend hours wandering the hidden laneways, cute shops, cobbled streets, and lovely cafes, all of which give this area a welcoming, bohemian feeling.

The Outer Hebrides (Or Western Isles)

You’d never think of Scotland having nice beaches right off the bat, but the Western Isles is a must-see for picture-perfect beaches! Despite being referred to as separate islands, the main island of Lewis and Harris is one landmass that is separated by a large mountain range. Both are dotted with some sandy coves and lovely bays, so you will have no issues finding your ideal beach in Scotland.
