Rincon de la Vieja National Park
If you consider yourself an adventurous spirit, you’re going to love Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Famous for its active volcanoes, natural hot springs, and spectacular geysers, Rincon de la Vieja is considered a must-visit destination. Cross the lush forest on a hanging bridge, dash through the park on a canopy zip line, and gallop to the cascading waterfalls on horseback! End the day tubing down the unforgettable Rio Negro on river rafts!
Santa Rosa National Park
The tropical dry forest is the most threatened of the major tropical forest types, and the Santa Rosa National Park protects one of the last remaining in the world. Created in 1971, conservationists hoped that the marriage of the park with the high elevation cloud forest of Orosi and Cacao would provide a sufficient habitat for a wide range of wildlife. Local fauna includes sea turtles, mantled howlers, ocelot, cougars, jaguars, and over 250 species of bird.
Manuel Antonio National Park
Manuel Antonio National Park is small enough to hike in just one day, but you might want to spend even more time in this Instagram-worthy spot. Once named one of the most beautiful places in the world by Forbes, Manuel Antonio is full of local fauna like sloths, monkeys, frogs, and more! Hike to the beach, and experience the blue Costa Rican waters for yourself. If you love the beach, you may want to visit Playa Hermosa, just 45 minutes away! Whether you want to catch some waves or relax on the sand, Playa Hermosa is the perfect place.
